Laurent Burst was born in Zug, Switzerland, in 1979. A citizen of both countries, he lives in Zurich, Zug and Berlin. Laurent grew up around photography and started taking pictures already as a small child, learning the art of photography from his dad, Harry Burst, a food and advertisement photographer of international reputation. After exploring the world of the camera obscura and a 150 year old wooden camera, the agile and atmospheric 35mm camera, the convenient Nikon and the narrative Leica caught his passion. Today he uses these tools in private and public spaces all over the world observing the small and big realities of everyday life to condense them into self-contained photographs.
Since 2009, Laurent is a full time professional photographer and has completed various documental series, portraits of people and companies, magazine features, covers and exhibitions in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Far East and Israel. Laurent is member of the Association of Creative Photographers Zurich (vfg) in Switzerland and represented by the photographer agency FOCUS in Hamburg.
Before following his passion for photography full-time, Laurent fulfilled various senior leadership roles in marketing, innovation and general management with a broad variety of companies.

2007-2008: Gift packaging factory Stewo Ltd., Wolhusen/Switzerland, 125 staff, member of the executive board, head of product development, innovation pipeline, marketing and communication; amongst other tasks: systemic brand development.
2000-2007: Idea factory BrainStore Ltd., Biel/Switzerland, 80 staff, member of the board of directors and the executive board, head of marketing and development; amongst other tasks: development of the companies photo identity.
Before 2000: Journalist and photographer for the local press in Zug/Switzerland, software development for a chemistry trading company in Zug/Switzerland, marketing for a private school in Basel/Switzerland, head of the editorial board and cameraman for an internet-tv based in Zurich/Switzerland.
